Proverbs 6 : 16 – 19″These six things the Lord hates, yes, seven are an abomination to Him. A proud look, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, A heart that devises wicked plans, feet that are swift in running to evil, A false witness who speaks lies, and one who sows discord among brethren”
There are attitudes that is not healthy to a successful life, such attitudes most times show lack of wisdom on whosoever found himself in such. There is a way you live that people will commend your level of understanding on the way to live effectively and successfully in life.
Some of these unhealthy attitude have been listed above and they are detrimental to a peaceful society. For instance a man with understanding of unity will never sow a seed of discord among brethren, also a man with the understanding of the sacredness and sanctity of life will not shed innocent blood.
We must all desist from any act that will not support a peaceful habitation in our society.
Correction accompanies learning
Proverb 12 : 1 ” If you love learning, you love the discipline that goes with it- how shortsighted to refuse correction!”
A learner is someone that is in search of secret that unlock whatsoever he is looking for or he is someone that has an open mind to receive knowledge that will add values to him. Learning makes refines crude mind; it illuminates and enlightens the mind. The worst person to deal with in life is a person with crude; not refined.
There are things you need to know in your learning journey and one of it is correction. You must be ready to be corrected. A man that refuses correction is a man that is not ready to be schooled in the journey of life. The more correction you receive, the more understanding you have and the better you become. It is a state of being myopic or narrow minded when you refuse instruction; it means you can see far beyond your noise.
If you want your learning process to be successful, be open to correction.
Don’t be gullible for any reason
Proverb 14 : 15 ” The gullible believe anything they are told; the prudent sift and weigh every word”
The dispensation we are in now is what is called dispensation of information. Information is flying at a speed of light: every second new things are being disseminated. In this kind of situation one must be very careful on the kind of information you receive, every word must be sift and weigh. It is not everything you hear that you believe and it is not every information that fly around that you believe it is true.
We are in the time that people are using propaganda to profit themselves and also using it as a political weapon against opposition. It is now becoming difficult to detect the kind of information to receive and the ones to discard. In view of this, one must be careful to think through any information, sift it and weigh it before you receive it.
Don’t be fooled to believe any kind of information.
Trust is earned it isn’t free
Proverb 11:13 ” A gladabout gossip can’t be trusted with a secret, but someone of integrity won’t violate a confidence”
Secrets are deep things about you which are sacred to you and can only be reveal to people of integrity. With this, you are sure that he won’t violate your confidence.
Before you reveal any secret about yourself make sure it is someone that has earned your trust. Your life and your self-worth is at stake if you reveal deep things about yourself to someone that will violate your confidence.
You don’t just commit yourself to people because people’s heart may sometimes be wicked to harm. Study people, let them labour for your trust because many have open up themselves to people that don’t give a damn about their lives and gossip around issues that should be kept.
Don’t entrust your life to people without integrity: such people are not safe to relate issues with, they will break your heart.
Understand prudence in the use of resources
Proverb 8 : 5 – 6 ” O you simple understand prudence, and you fools, be of an understanding heart. Listen , for i will speak of excellent things, and from the opening of my lips will come right things”
According to Merriam-webster dictionary prudence means :
: the ability to govern and discipline oneself by the use of reason
: sagacity or shrewdness in the management of affairs
: skill and good judgment in the use of resources
: caution or circumspection as to danger or risk
Many a time people are wasteful in the use of resources and most expecially money. Money management: the good use of money is a good indicator on your level of understanding on money.” A man that is not faithful in little can not be faithful in much”. If you want to live above poverty line you must put your money into good use: some of it is by investing in yourself, real estate, shares etc. It is not about how much you have with you but how effective you put the ones you have into good use.
Don’t spend erratically or by impulse but rather be prudent with your spending.
