Gaining admission into a tertiary institution is not an easy job; hard work is required in order to be offered admission into their desired course(s). So many students are only wishing some of these institutions without giving the required commitment and effort needs to gain admission into any of the schools. It has been long students have been wishing to study Medicine and Surgery, Pharmacy, Electrical / Electronic engineering, Mechanical engineering, Nursing, Civil engineering, Architecture etc., but their hope has been dashed because they failed to meet up with the requirements. There is a need for you to count the cost before you embark on any journey. If you desire to study any of the above courses it is important to be aware of the requirements and be ready to meet up with it.
Different schools with different requirements and the level of competitions also differ for each school.
I will try to look at some of the sought after schools by students.
The suggestion below is ENTIRELY THE OPINION of the writer. I am just trying to discuss what you need to do to give you some level of advantage or hedge over other students to secure admission in any of the institutions.

This is one of the institutions that students like to choose as their first choice to study Medicine and Surgery, Nursing, Pharmacy, Electrical engineering, Mechanical engineering, Civil engineering, etc. It is important that your WASSCE results must be relatively okay: you must have at least Mathematics (B), English (B), Chemistry (B), Biology (B), Physics (B) and any other subject for your chances to be relatively high. This means that you must sit tight and prepare very well for your WASSCE. Your preparation must start now.

For students interested in writing Cambridge “A” level, you have a great task ahead. Though the task isn’t difficult as some students perceive it to be, you must target AT LEAST 15 points: AAB. My advice to students has been to target 16 points (AAA) for them to be in a very good position. Cambridge A level will enable you to secure admission into 200 level in any institution of your choice. It is also an avenue to strengthen your academic muscles.
You need to score relatively high in UTME. I will advise students to aim at scoring above 250 for you to have good standing.
An upper credit or distinction is required for direct entry for OND/HND. I will advise students in this category to target distinction for them to stand a better chance.
Lastly, since institutions have now been given go ahead to conduct post-UTME, you should prepare well for OAU post-UTME for your chances to be bright.
