Mathew 12 : 33 – 35 ” Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or make the tree bad and its fruit bad; for a tree is known by its fruit. “Brood of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.” “A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure bring forth evil things.
A man is not evil until the treasure inside him is evil. The treasures are his thoughts, imaginations, perspective, perception, disposition etc. If any on these is corrupted, such a man becomes dangerous to himself and people around him. There is a saying “You are what you think, said differently, you are your thought”. If your thought is evil, you are evil.
A man is good by these same treasure. A man is firstly good inside and then outside. The fruit you bear is as a result of what is inside of you. Before you can say a man is generous, firstly, he has a large mind that accomodate and ready to give to people. People that are generous has a disposition to life that is quite different from someone that is stingy or selfish. A person that is performing well academically, firstly, he has an understanding mind and also develop internal capacity to excel academically.
You don’t have to stay with a man till eternity before you know the kind of treasure he possesses inside. Out of the abundance of heart the mouth speaks.
The good news is that your inward treasures can be changed. Your thought, imagination, perception and disposition can be fine tuned or refine when delibrate steps are taking to refine it. The more you refine your internal treasure the more you produce good fruits.
A good man and his giving attitude
“You never know where somebody’s going to end up. It’s not just about building your reputation; it is really about being there for other people” Adam Rifkin
The true measure of a man is how he treats someone who can do him absolutely no good. Givers give because it is their nature to give and not because of the good they want in return. They also pay forward whatever good or benefit they have received. I learnt the concept of pay forward from a friend, he said ” I have benefited from some people in which I can’t directly pay back because they are blessed, but what I do is to pay forward all what I have benefited. Paying forward means doing to another person the good someone has done for you. Having this attitude makes life interesting and fulfilling.
A giver always create a value for himself while maximizing opportunities for value to flow outward for the benefits of others. They are always a channel of blessing with no string attached.. Reid Hoffman said ” If you set out to help others, you will rapidly reinforce your own reputation and expand your universe of possibilities”.
They love to interact and relate with people – they have networks. They are altruistic in their networks – they don’t look for what to gain in any network the have. They more selfless your attitude, the more benefits you gain from the networks.
Keith Ferrazzi said ” I will sum up the key to success in one word; generosity, if your interactions are ruled by generosity your rewards will follow suit”. A generous man is a large minded man. They think others first before themselves.
Finally, Maya Angelou said ” No one has ever become poor from giving.”
