The easiest thing to do in life is to give instruction without you getting involve in the task. That is one of the most comfortable zone one can be, telling people what to do and what not to do. And this is can of attitude will always lower the morale of those you are instructing or tutoring to engage in a task.
For some weeks I have been following a colleaque to Jim centre after the day’s work. There was this particular day a new trainer was the one that was training the trainee and everybody seems to enjoy that day’s session because he was also participating in all the session. The guy is very fit, full of life and he made sure he did all what he commanded the trainees to do. That day training was fun and lively. This was against the usual partner at the Jim centre. This got me thinking and I discovered that the best way to motivate or encourage people is to be involve in that very task you are instructing them to do. One of the best ways to learn is by following examples, instructions are good but if both trainer and trainee are in the task together the better it will be for the trainee.
The best way to lead is by being in the very heart of the task and others will follow based on the path you have laid. Benjamin Franklin said “Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.” From his statement it is crystal clear that the best way to learn is when the leaner and the instructor are in the task together. When the traineer isn’t ready to be involve, he is not fit to lead.
There is a particular verse I love so much in the bible Hebrew 4 : 15 “For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are–yet he did not sin.” Jesus Christ to be an high priest because He first passed through what we might call temptation and yet without sin. By this He can instruct on how to live a life despite challenges without sin.
Every trainer must encourage and motivate their trainee by getting involve in whatever task you are instructing them and this is one of the ways they can learn better. Let them see that you are with them.
