7 Scholarship Programmes for International Students

There are scholarship opportunities for students especially Nigerians that are considering studying in countries like UK, France, USA, etc. Listed below are the 7 great scholarship programmes you may want to apply for:

(1) Commonwealth Scholarships

Commonwealth Scholarships for Postgraduate (Master’s and PhD) study in the UK are offered for citizens of developing Commonwealth countries. These scholarships are funded by the UK Department for International Development (DFID), with the aim of contributing to the UK’s international development aims and wider overseas interests, supporting excellence in UK higher education, and sustaining the principles of the Commonwealth.

(2) NITDA Scholarship Scheme

NITDA has since 2010 established a scholarship scheme for Masters and Doctoral degree in relevant areas of Information Technology (IT) and ICT Law obtainable in Nigerian (Government and Private) Universities.

Minimum requirements:

PhD: Only University and Polytechnic Lecturers with MSc in any Information Technology related field are eligible to apply for sponsorship.

MSc: Holders of First Class or Second Class (Upper) Honours Bachelor’s degree, in Information Technology related field and Law.

 

(3) PTDF Scholarship

PTDF do invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for Overseas and in-country MSc and PhD Scholarships.   Awards will be granted for studies in each academic session in the United Kingdom  , Germany, Brazil, France (through Campus France), Top Institutions in the United States of America as well as Federal Universities and Centres of Excellence in Nigeria.

CRITERIA FOR PTDF SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME

(i) Applicants for OSS must be in possession of the following:

(ii) Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)(USA)

(iii) G.R.E (Graduate Record Examination) (USA)

(iv) GMAT –for Management related courses (USA)

(v) International English Language Testing System (IELTS) (UK

MSc.

(i) A minimum of Second Class Upper (2.1) in an Oil and Gas related field OR a 2.2 with oil and gas industry experience;

(ii) National Youth Service (NYSC) certificate;

(iii) Applicants must be computer literate;

(iv) Possession of O/level with Credit in English Language; (At least C6 in WAEC/SSCE or C4 and above in NECO); and

(v) Applicants must not be above 30 years of age.

PhD.

(i) A minimum of Second Class Upper (2.1) in an Oil and Gas related field OR a 2.2 with oil and gas industry experience;

(ii) National Youth Service (NYSC) certificate;

(iii) Applicants must be computer literate;

(iv) Possession of O/level with Credit in English Language; (At least C6 in WAEC/SSCE or C4 and above in NECO); and

(v) Employment in the academics in reputable Nigerian Institution, teaching oil and gas related disciplines;

(vi) A minimum of 2.2 in their first degree and a minimum of merit as a second degree certificate in an oil and gas related discipline;

(vii) Submit a research proposal relevant to the oil and gas industry (of not more than 5 pages) to include: Topic, introduction, objective, methodology relevance to the industry and mode of data collection;

(viii) Possess a valid admission letter; and

(ix) Must not be over 40 years of age

 

(4) Nigeria Birmingham Outstanding Achievement Scholarships

This scholarship is awarded to the highest performing students starting their University of Birmingham programme in each academic year. The scholarship awards are for £5,000 towards tuition fees (for the first year only) of a full time undergraduate degree programme at the University.

 

(5) Shell Nigeria Exploration and Producing Company (SNEPCo) Postgraduate Scholarship Programme

The objective of the scheme is to provide an opportunity for qualifying students from any state and the federal capital territory to acquire a Master’s Degree in courses that are relevant to the oil and gas industry, with specific focus on Geotechnical Engineering and Hydrography at renowned universities in the United Kingdom.

SNEPCo, in partnership with three universities, namely the University of Birmingham, Newcastle University and University of Plymouth, will award three (3) scholarships for one year M.Sc, studies for each academic year.

 

(6) International Baccalaureate Scholarship

This scholarship is available to students with excellent results in the International Baccalaureate qualification. This scholarship provides Tuition Fees at International rate.

 

(7) Chevening Scholarships
