Ecological Organic Agriculture Initiative Research Grant For Nigerians 2019/2020

There is a call to support master programme student by Ecological Organic Initiative with a research grant on organic agriculture.

About EOA-I

The Ecological Organic Agriculture Initiative (EOA-I) is a continental programme under the leadership of African Union Commission since 2011. It is currently implemented in nine African countries such as; Benin, Ethiopia, Kenya, Mali, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Tanzania, and Uganda. Chaired and presided over by the African Union-chaired Continental.

 Its overall goal is to improve agricultural productivity, food security, access to markets and sustainable development in Africa as whole and in Nigeria in particular.

The Association of Organic Agriculture Practitioners of Nigeria leads the implementation of EOA in Nigeria with her partner; Kwara State University handling the 2019 Research, Training and Applied Knowledge Pillar of the Initiative.

Focus of research grant

The 2019 EOA research grant (N163, 000/ student) targets students (maximum of five) undertaking research in any aspect of organic agriculture at Masters level in any public university in Nigeria, focusing on vegetables and spices.

Support for the project is from Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) through Bio-vision Africa Trust.

Deliverables

Should submit final dissertation approved and finalized by the University with the Association of Organic Agriculture Practitioners of Nigeria support acknowledged under Ecological Organic Agriculture project at the end of the project (on or before December 10, 2019) with acknowledgment of the support by EOA Nigeria,

How to apply for Ecological Organic Agriculture Initiative Research Grant

Interested candidates should submit the following:

  • Submit a Concept Note of not more than two pages of font 12 on A4 size to show justify the need for support the research.
  • Financial budget showing the cost of conducting the study, breakdown of research costs and work plan,
  • Evidence of student registration appropriately stamped by candidate’s institutional department.
  • Letters of support by the student’s supervisor and Head of Department.
