Wisdom to live successfully

How To Move Through The Challenges Of Life

There is one thing I have come to realise in life and that is “you don’t know what life will throw at you”. There are so many things you can’t accurately predict with high degree of precision because of some factors that may be unknown to you. This piece is written to encourage someone out there that life may “seems unfair to”.

One thing I can not also shy away from is that challenges of life differs with people. What I am facing may be different from what you are facing, though each persons challenges may be unknown to other person. I have come to agree with this particular verse of the bible, John 16:33 “I have told you this so that through me you may have peace. In the world you’ll have trouble, but be courageous—I’ve overcome the world!”.

This above statement must be acknowledged by anyone that want to have peace of mind and free of depression in this world.

Four things to help you overcome any challenge

  1. Your heart must have a resting place

I have discovered that our hearts need what to rest on or hope on during the stormy time of our life. There must be something that should keep the heart going during the dark or stormy time.

A life without a living hope is a dead life. Such life will be full of pain, agony and depression will not be far from such life. It can also mean somebody you can talk your worry and your pains to when the sea is stormy and difficult to sail through. Isaiah 26 : 3 says “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.”.

The resting place I am referring to in this context is God. God via His word has given us words of life and living hope that will help us through the dark time. We are also free to pour our mind, our pain and agony to him anytime we feel the going is getting tough and rough. 1 Peter 5: 7 “Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.”

When you give your worries and cares to Him, your mood lightens up and a fresh breeze will fill your heart. Expressing our feelings to God through Jesus Christ is a way to get rid of heavy heart.

  1. You must persevere

The word persevere means to continue in a course of action even in the face of difficulty or with little or no prospect of success. You must keep going regardless of how stormy it is.

One of the things I have seen as a student and as a teacher is the agony and pain students go through before they are being offered admission into their desired course.

Another like it is the travail of unemployed graduate. These two issues affect the psychological wellbeing of students and graduate respectively. In all, just persevere and keep doing your best until you get that admission and job.

  1. Always encourage yourself

During stormy time of your life, you may not see anyone to encourage you. It may look like you are the only one in this world or the whole world is against you, all you need to do is to encourage yourself in God. Keep assuring yourself that better days are ahead.

Although, sometimes your emotion may swings to getting discourage about life or even giving up, in spite of this, just keep moving and keep encouraging yourself.

  1. Keep improving on yourself

Sometimes some challenges do come to show your deficiencies in one area or the other which may require your urgent attention to fix it. You must use the storm to your advantage by adding more values to yourself and by increasing your capacity.

Don’t allow any challenge to leave you the same or worse but rather to leave you a better person.
