# How to Write MM, MMV, MMVIII Roman Numerals In Numbers

MMVIII roman numerals is 2008 in numbers. However, before I arrived at such number, there are some basic rules that I have used. One of them is that M roman numeral stands for 1000. Also, others are listed below

• If a bigger letter precedes or comes before a smaller letter, the letters are added.
• If a smaller letter precedes a bigger letter, the letters are subtracted.
• If a letter is repeated 2 or 3 times, they are added.
• The same letter cannot be used more than three times in succession.

MM = 1000 + 1000 = 2000

MMVIII = M + M + VIII (note M is 1000 and VIII = V + I + I + I = 5 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 8)

MMVIII = 1000 + 1000 + 8 = 2008
