Romans 1 : 19&20 ” Because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. vs 20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse”
Man made idea and narrow perception has done a great damage to the image of God and this has contributed to some of the worries some scientist have about who God is. According to the above verse, things that are made should naturally give us the knowledge of God. The creation says alot about some of the nature of God.
According to an online dictionary, science is defined as the intellectual and practical activity encompassing the systematic study of the structure and behavior of the physical and natural world through observation and experiment. Science studies nature through observation and experiment. I love the word observation in the definition of science, observation is the action or process of observing something or someone carefully or in order to gain information. You observe to gain information. Ideally science ought to lead someone to some level of knowledge of God because what they observe is nature. But reverse is the case in what we see; science is now leading people away from God. One of the reasons for this I believe is the the poor notion some religious men have created about God. In their quest of studying the nature, scientist observed that what they hear is quite different from the information they got from observing the nature. For example, a certain cleric man from a particular religion says ” Female is more than male, so according to their book, God said, men should marry more than one wife, so that no woman on earth would be unmarried”. Another one like it is when you hear people say ” We are offering service to God by killing”. These two statements do not potray God has intelligent and the intelligent being behind the creation of the universe. When you say someone is intelligent, one expect that he/ she should always speak intelligently consistently at all time.
The new testament of the bible put the image of God in a proper view through what Jesus Christ came to do and accomplished on earth. It is because of Him that we have a good image of God that is accurately consistent with any scientific or logic observation we might have had. Jesus said in a particular verse that ” John 16:2 the time is coming when anyone who kills you will think they are offering a service to God.” Why will somebody think he is offering a service to God by killing? This will make people to think that “God is immoral by delighting in killing and He can’t be the one behind the creation of the universe.”
Christians should not relent in studying the word of God so as to potray the accurate image of God. Failure to do that will lead people away from God. We must intelligently present God because God is intelligent
