Wisdom to live successfully

What you need to do before starting a project

Always make the first thing first

Priority, cost evaluation and commitment are some of the components of making the first thing first.

Luke 14 : 28 & 31 ” For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it. 31 ” Or what king, going to make war against another king, does not sit down first and consider whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand?”
It is very important that you count and evaluate the cost before you proceed to do anything. It will enable you to know what lies ahead of you and how you need to forge ahead based on your foreknowledge. Most times we find ourselves setting for a journey or a project without counting the cost and putting oneself in the midst of nowhere as a result of the enormous task that we failed to know before commencing it.

It is all about knowing what is required of you before you embark on anything: the price you have to pay, the level of commitment, the dedication, the cost evaluation. When these are known, it will help you to be prepared for whatever may come your way. For instance, some marriages are on the verge of collapse because one of the partners has not counted the cost. Counting the cost is the first step to a successful marriage. One of the questions everybody embarking on any journey should ask himself/herself is “am I prepared or ready for this journey?” This question should be answered objectively and not subjectively. Answering this question objectively will give us the strength to carry on because you have evaluated, prepared and are capable to embark on the journey.

One of the ways to getting oneself from emotional stress is by making the first thing first: you first map out the most important thing, evaluate it and decide to be committed to it.
