Direct Entry: Two (2) ‘A’ level passes chosen from Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

O’level: Five (5) SSC credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Physics and Chemistry.

JAMB subject combination: Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

Medicine and Surgery, Nursing, Medical Laboratory Science, Nutrition and Dietetics, Dentistry and Dental Surgery, and Anatomy

O’level: Five (5) SSC credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Physics and Chemistry.

JAMB subject combination: Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

Common and Islamic Law

O’level: Five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes in Arts or Social Sciences to include English Language and Islamic Studies or Arabic.

BUK requires Islamic Studies/Arabic and Literature in-English for Common and Islamic Law.

JAMB subject combination: Any three (3) Arts or Social Science subjects including Arabic or Islamic Studies

General application Requirement

Students applying to Bayero University are categorized into several groups based on type/level of degree been sort after. There two broad levels namely Undergraduate and Postgraduate applicants.

Undergraduate Application

This category of applicants must have Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE) or its equivalent. Depending on additional qualification possed by an applicant, there are three ways to apply.

Unified Tetiary Matriculation Examination (UTME)

Prospective candidates must have sat for the UTME Examinations, must have applied for a course in Bayero University, Kano and must have scored an aggregate to be determined by the University before they are deemed eligible in subjects relevant to the programme applied for.

Prospective candidates must have obtained a minimum of Five (5) passes at Credit level in the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE or Equivalent) conducted by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) or the National Examinations Council (NECO) in not more than two (2) sittings, including a pass at credit level in both English and Mathematics and other subjects relevant to the candidate’s chosen field of study. They would then be required to register and write a test (Post -UTME) which is conducted by the University.

Prospective students for the 6-year Dentistry Degree program at Bayero University Kano will be required to have a minimum of five passes at credit level in the senior secondary school certificate examination(SSCE) or West African school certificate examination(WAEC) or Equivalent including Biology, Physics, Mathematics and English. Candidates seeking for admission into level 100 must sit for the University Matriculation Examination and obtain a minimum score of 200 in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Use of English. Such candidates will also be required to sit and pass the Bayero University Post UTME test to meet the matriculation requirement.

Direct Entry

The general entry requirements for the Part-time degree programmes are OND (with merit), NCE, IJMB (with a minimum of 8 points), GCE ‘A’ Level (3 credits) and HND (Pass). Applicants must also possess all the necessary ‘O’ Level requirements applicable to the regular full time undergraduate admissions. This means that credit in English is compulsory for all courses applied, while Mathematics is necessary for science based courses and the social sciences.

Holders of ‘A’ Level certificate would be required to submit their credentials for screening.

Candidates seeking for Direct Entry admission will be required to have a minimum of 12 points from IJMB. Students with Bachelor Degree in basic science are also eligible to apply for direct entry admission into BDS.

Part-time Degree

The general entry requirements for the Part-time degree programmes are OND (with merit), NCE, IJMB (with a minimum of 8 points), GCE ‘A’ Level (3 credits) and HND (Pass). In addition to the ‘A’ Level qualifications stated above, applicants must also possess all the necessary ‘O’ Level requirements applicable to the regular full time undergraduate admissions. This means that credit in English is compulsory for all courses applied, while Mathematics is necessary for science based courses and the social sciences.  Only candidates of twenty five (25) years of age and above would be admitted. Candidates with only ‘O’ level results need not apply.
