JAMB Released Cut Off Mark For Institutions In Nigerian For 2026 Admission

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board has approved and announced the JAMB cut-off mark during the policy meeting held today 11th May 2026 for Nigerian Universities, Polytechnics, and other tertiary institutions.

The minimum cut-off marks suggested by JAMB for admissions are listed below:

  • For Universities, the minimum cut-off mark is: 150
  • For Colleges of Nursing, the minimum cut-off mark is: 150
  • For Polytechnics, the minimum cut-off mark is: 100
  • For Colleges of Education/Agriculture, the minimum cut-off mark is: No UTME Score Required

During the JAMB policy meeting, the registrar approved 150 for universities and 100 for polytechnics and colleges of education. In the meeting, it was stated that universities are not allowed to go below 150 while polytechnics and Colleges of Education, are not allowed to go below 100 for admission. This implies that there is a uniform cut-off mark for the 2025/2026 admissions which tertiary institutions in Nigeria must not go below. Since this is a unanimous agreement among all stakeholders in the meeting.

JAMB Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede said institutions are not to go below the minimum cut-off points adopted at the meeting for admissions. He also said “We will only determine the minimum, whatever you determine as your admission cut-off mark is your decision”

During the JAMB policy meeting, the minister stated that he is not against Post-UTME but the cost must not be above Two thousand naira only (N2,000), and this time, they will enforce it.

According to the JAMB registrar, the JAMB cut off mark released is the minimum mark and not what all universities must use. Therefore, there are universities in Nigeria whose cut-off mark is fixed at 200. Listed below are the universities with 200 as their cut-off mark:

  • University of Ibadan
  • University of Benin
  • University of Lagos
  • Obafemi Awolowo University
  • Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, (200 for most courses but for some courses cut-off mark is 180)
