Subjects Required to Study Mass Communication in Nigerian Universities
There are some questions I would like to answer using this page for candidates who want to study mass communication in the university. Before I can answer the question above, I will like to give the admission requirement to study the course as approved by JAMB.
Admission requirements
O’level: Five (5) SSC credit passes in English Language and four (4) other subjects in Arts or Social Sciences.
Direct Entry: Two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in Arts or Social Science subjects
The above requirements are general but a close look suggests that most universities want a credit pass in literature in English.
Furthermore, economics is not as important as literature to study mass communication. Some universities accept commerce in lieu of economics.
Below are the top Universities offering mass communication and their requirements:
University of Lagos
UNILAG requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Literature in English and any two (2) of Economics, History/Government, Geography, any Nigerian Language, Christian Religious Studies/Islamic Studies and Civic Education.
