Ideal Type Of Job For Graduates To Take Up

Graduates now find it hard to get a good job and they need to change their approach if they don’t want to be frustrated. The age we are doesn’t give room for lazy people or people that don’t know the kind of job that is right for them. This is not about a job that will pay you well but a job that will give you the required work experience.

There is a common mistake among the graduates and it is “If I can’t get a job in a big company, then I will sit down until a good job comes” Although, being employed in a company that pays well is the dream of graduates except for those that wanted to have their own business, but the reality is that the competition is high to get such jobs. And you will be doing yourself a great disservice if you sit down at home acquiring no skill or you just take up a job that won’t give you the required work experience.

There are two major ways to get employed by big companies that pay well and they are: (i) through graduate level and (ii) Experienced hire. There is an age limit to a graduate level job (maximum 28) and this means for you to be a graduate trainee in a big company; you must not exceed their age limit as at the time you apply. Once you are above this age, you are only left with the experienced hire position. And if you don’t have a job that can give you the required work experience to apply for an experienced hire position, you will become helpless and frustrated.

For this reason, you must be strategic in the type of job you will take up if you haven’t got your dream job.

The steps you need to take after graduation are:

  • Match your degree with your dream companies to know whether they do employ your discipline
  • Look out for their graduate vacancies and apply
  • Look for similar companies around that can give you required work experience that will make you fit into your dream company perhaps your application was rejected. Never get discouraged if the pay isn’t encouraging provided you are acquiring enough skills.
  • You can also go for a higher degree and at the same time take a part-time job related to your field.

The above steps will get you prepared to gain employment into your dream company through experience hire if your application was rejected when you applied as a graduate trainee.

It is the related work experience that position for your dream job. Don’t waste your time sitting down and doing nothing or running after a job that will eventually not count.

Don’t forget this “your work experience count and it is a CV booster”
