Learn Africa Awarded Over N2M to NECO Best Students

It was a day of joy for the three best students in the 2023 Senior Secondary School Examination (SSCE) organized by the National Examination Council (NECO) as they were awarded over two million Naira (N2M). This was done by Learn Africa in collaboration with the council to recognise their extraordinary performance in the examination.

In his speech during the Excellence Awards, Emeke Iwerebon, the chairman of Learn Africa Plc, said the company’s unwavering commitment to academic brilliance gave rise to establishing the award as part of its corporate social responsibility drive.

According to Iwerebon, the initiative aims to reward academic brilliance among students, appreciate teachers’ dedication, recognise schools that produce outstanding students in the yearly NECO June/July SSCE, and encourage healthy competition at the secondary school level.

He also stated that they understand what it takes to succeed academically, which is why the organisation has dimmed it fit to reward this kind of student for the steps taken to achieve this feat.

During the ceremony, the first prize goes to Okafor Christian, a former Saint Paul’s Academy student in Jos, Plateau State. He received the sum of N1 million. The second prize goes to Benson Ifebube from Renaissance Garden Secondary School in Ago-Okota in Lagos State, with prize money of N750,000. The third prize goes to Taleatu Oluwatimilehin from Oritamefa Baptist Model School in Ibadan, Oyo State, with N500,000.

Christian and Ifebube aspired to become medical doctors while Oluwatimilehin wanted to become neurologists. They were grateful for this award as it made them see that their dedication to their studies had a reward.
