The UNICAL cut of marks for all the courses being offered in the school has been released by management. The minimum score in JAMB for all aspirants is 140. UTME candidate who scores 140 and above are eligible for the exercise. This score means you can register and participate in the school PUTME.
All prospective applicants should bear in mind that the minimum cut-off mark for UNICAL is the same for all candidates, irrespective of the candidate’s state of origin. Over the years, we have studied the school’s admission process and found out that those who score at least 240 and above in JAMB have a better chance of gaining admission.
How to Calculate Aggregate Score
The University of Calabar has employed a 50:50 JAMB and Post UTME system for the departmental cut-off mark in its aggregate system. So, whether you have 9 A’s or 9 C’s, UNICAL is not concerned. All that matters are your JAMB and Post UTME score.
Steps to calculate the UNICAL cut-off mark aggregate score below:
- Divide your JAMB score (out of 400) by 8
- Divide your Post UTME score (out of 100) by 2
- Add up, and you have your aggregate or average score
Department
Suppose you could not meet the approved cut-off mark stipulated by the school authority. In that case, you are automatically advised to do a JAMB change of course and institution since some universities accept students who score below 180 for admission.
- 260 and above for Basic Medical Science courses (O’ Level result with one sitting only) and Nursing
- 160 and above for Art courses – English language, Mass Communication, Theatre Arts, etc
- 220 and above for Applied Basic Sciences like Physiology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Geology and the likes
- 230 and above – Computer Science, English Language, Biochemistry, Geology, all engineering courses except Agricultural and Biosystem Engineering
The minimum score is divided into 3 Merit, Locality, and ELDs. The first score is for Merit, the second one is for locality, and the third one is for ELDs
