Geology is the study of the Earth, the materials of which it is made, the structure of those materials, and the processes acting upon them. A geologist work to understand the earth process such as landslides, earthquakes, floods, and volcanic eruptions, etc.
Geology is one of the marketable courses in Nigeria i.e. it is a good course to study. Upon graduation you can work in any oil and gas company in Nigeria. And of today in Nigeria, oil and Gas Company is one of the highest paying companies in Nigeria.
Someone asked me that how many years course is geology in Nigeria. The duration of years for geology in Nigeria is five years.

Admission requirements
Five (5) SSCE credit passes in English Language, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and any other subject
JAMB Subject combination
English Language and any three of:
- Mathematics
- Chemistry
- Physics
- Biology and
- Geography
Lastly, depending on the JAMB cut-off mark of each universities in Nigeria, you must target a minimum score of 200 in JAMB.
