JAMB added New Features on Central Admission Process (CAPS)
CAPS was developed and introduced in 2017 and was immediately adopted for the conduct of the admission exercise for 2017/2018 after series of engagements with stakeholders. It has revealed the need to review the formula to make our institutions more National (as envisaged in the inclusion of Catchment Area in the criteria – which has been so abused)
JAMB CAPS has helped in the following areas:
- Exemption admission was properly and jointly controlled
- Wrong subject combinations were checked
- Every activity of a user is logged with a date and time stamp
- Every institution was given access to source for candidates through the market place. But candidate’s contacts were not given to schools to avoid abuse
- Candidates can now protest their admission status should they feel they are not fairly treated
- Institutions concerned now also have a means of revisiting the process
- Candidates can now accept or reject his/her admission
