UBA Essay Competition 2024 For Secondary School Students

UBA Essay Competition is now on and entries are being accepted from Senior Secondary school students in Nigeria. The deadline for submission of entries for the Essay writing Competition is 8th November, 2024.

Now in its 14th edition, the National Essay Competition, targeted at senior secondary students in Nigeria is organized annually, as part of UBA Foundation’s education initiative which is aimed at promoting the reading culture and encouraging healthy and intellectual competition amongst secondary school students in Nigeria and across Africa.

UBA Foundation, the CSR arm of the United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc, announces the commencement of the 2024 edition of the National Essay Competition (NEC) for senior secondary school students in Nigeria. The NEC provides a competitive platform to develop the intellectual and writing abilities of senior secondary school students in Nigeria. Winners get educational grants to study in any African University of their choice.

UBA Foundation National Essay Competition Topic: “The Impact of Carbon Emission on Climate Change in Nigeria: Discuss the Challenges and Proffer Solutions.”

To participate

  • Must be in Senior Secondary school
  • Must submit a handwritten essay (750 words MAX)
  • Must submit a passport photograph
  • Must submit a scanned copy of a means of identification (birth certificate, National ID, or passport)

Judge: The panels of judges are made up of Professors from reputable Nigerian Universities.

The competition offers a substantial financial reward for the top three winners:

  • Winner: N7,500,000.00 + Award + Prizes
  • First Runner-up: N5,000,000.00 + Award + Prizes
  • Second Runner-up: N3,500,000.00 + Award + Prizes

How to Participate

Interested students can apply for the competition by clicking here to apply online. Applicants must:

  • Upload a scanned copy of their original birth certificate or international passport data page.
  • Upload a handwritten essay of no more than 750 words on the designated portal.
  • Ensure that the essay is original, plagiarism-free, and properly referenced.
