What you need to know about your team as a leader

Leadership is about influence. A leader without followers is only taking a walk. In every team there are always major and minor influencers. Every leader must be able to identify influencers within his team. Jesus Christ was a perfect example of a good leader, he knew that Peter is an influencer within His team that is why He prayed for Peter. He knew fully well that if Peter should slip away from His teachers other disciples will follow suit.

You can never be successful as a leader if you cannot recognise key influencer within your team. Not only recognising them but nuturing, equipping and strengthening them. Leaders have more work to do on influencers within the team because in some cases they may form opinion in others against the leader if they are not in good terms with the leader.

Once the influencers within the team get the message of the leader and are established, the remaining members within the group will have no problem getting the message of the leaders rightly.

This is one of the concept political leaders are using to get people on their side. They will look out for influencers among the people and those influencers are what I will call “opinion moulder”. They will mould the opinion of people towards the politician in good light. This is an abuse of this very concept. I believe leadership is about positive influence and not to get people for political gain.

Know you team and the influencers within your team!!!

As a leader you have to be the voice to the voiceless

Proverb 31 : 8 -9 ” Open your mouth for the speechless, in the cause of all who are appointed to die. Open your mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy”

There is a fact one can’t deny and it is that there are people who have no voice and without strength. It is your duty to liberate them from the hand our the oppressor and those that want to take advantage of them. Every society is made up of the voiceless and the oppressors. The oppressor are their to always display their wickedness at the expense of the poor and needy. They look down on the needy and see them as someone wihout an helper.

If God has helped you to be in a position to deliever people from oppression, you must not hesistate to do it. You are in that position for a purpose and one of the reason is for you to breath life to people that are “lifeless”. We must use our position to speak for people that are feeble and without voice. You must make sure that the wickedness of the wicked stop. You should not join force with people via your position to perpetrate evil.

Be the eyes to the blind and the voice to the voiceless!!!
